Concert Under the Stars Info

A message from our Boosters,

Our amazing Concert Under the Stars next week is run by all parents in the program.  Here is how you can help make your child's big night run smoothly. 

1. Raffle baskets.  Thank you to those who have sent items in already.  We are still accepting items!  Below are the themes to help guide your donations.

Puma Band: "Movie Night"

Puma Strings: "Beach Day"

7/8 Band: "Caffeine and Chocolate"

7/8 Strings:  "Spa Day"

 

2. Concert Coffee Bar: We are in need of a parent to organize donated coffee.  We have many local coffee shops and franchises in Moorpark and they are always happy to help with disposable cardboard coffee containers.  This task involves requesting a donation, picking up the coffee and any supplies offered, and bringing them to the concert before 5:30 pm on the day of the concert.  Typically two or three of the cardboard containers (one decaf, one or two caffeinated) are enough. Our Boosters have some coffee cups and supplies, so even if you can only bring coffee, we'd be ok.  If you look forward to sipping some coffee while enjoying the great tunes, please consider accepting this task. Let us know if you can be our coffee hero at mesaverdemusicboosters@gmail.com.

 

3. Bake Sale:  Please sign up to to bring a yummy treat.  You can bring it with you to the concert or have your child deliver it to school on the day of the concert.

3. Volunteering: You will be able to hear and watch all performances from our raffle and bake sale areas so have no fear about missing out during your shift.  This concert cannot run without volunteers and your children appreciate your help!

4. Tickets: Information regarding pre-purchasing tickets will be sent home with students and our flyer is attached for easy printing. Pre-purchase order forms are due back at school by Tuesday, March 15th.  These "Will Call" Tickets can be purchased with checks or cash via our pre-purchase form.  Make sure to write your name clearly so we can create our "VIP Entrance" list! You would let the entrance volunteers know the name on your form and they will find you on our list and let you in.  Credit cards and PayPal payments for entrance can be made at the concert venue itself. There is no limit to how many attendees each family brings.  If you come through a side gate, please honor the program by getting in line for entrance at the main gate.

 

5. Raffle: We have some fun raffle items in addition to our class baskets.  A month of free karate classes?  A basket of health and beauty products?  A family 4-pack to Disneyland?  These and more are up for grabs!  Raffle tickets are $1 each and can be purchased at the door with cash, check, credit card, or PayPal!  Every penny goes back to our program thanks to generous sponsors like Moorpark Karate & Krav Maga, Ruby Cowie of Younique, and Mickey Mouse!  The raffle winners will be announced at the closer of the second show, and any winners not there to pay for and receive their items will be notified.  We will arrange for you to get your loot, we promise!

 

6. Advice: Come prepared for a line, especially if we are limited on volunteers.  Plan for the weather with layers if you like warmth.  There are tables and chairs at the venue, but some prefer bringing beach chairs to give themselves more space.  You can bring and enjoy your own food as well.  If your child is performing in the first part of the concert, please have no qualms about heading home afterward as the next concert's guests will gladly take your spot.  Be mindful of supervising young children and prepare to be respectfully quiet during performances, of course. And most importantly...prepare for FUN! 

 

Much gratitude toward our director Kurt Gray, his staff, the Mesa Verde administration, and the student musicians. Thanks to our raffle item providers, the hero willing to set up the coffee situation, the venue volunteers, and the attendees of course! We can't wait to enjoy the show with you!
